Question...
I had my glocose screening tests done...my 1 hr came back at 135, which I was
told was right on the line so the had me do the 3 hour. My 3 hour results came
back as (after drinking 100 gram glucose solution)
Fasting = 95 (right at cut off so doc failed me)
1 hour = 168 (passed)
2 hour = 172 (failed)
3 hour = 136 (passed, and that was with the lab tech taking my blood early
because she wanted to leave).
So with these results they are putting me on a diabetic diet and having me
check my blood 4 times a day.
My concern is...how the heck did my blood sugar go UP between hour 1 and 2? I
ask this for 2 reasons...
1. I was diagnosed borderline gd with my last pregnancy (failed 2 levels by 1
point each) so doc had me take my sugar readings 4x a day which were never
high...and I got to know my body pretty well.
2. There was a girl sitting next to me at the lab havig the same test done, and
I remember being concerned for her because the glucola put her right to
sleep...and I was concerned because the lab tech kept having trouble keping
track of whose bag of vials was whose...so I wonder if the got mixed for the
2nd hour test.
Is it common for a diabetic's blood sugar to come down normally, then go back
up, then drop back down into normal again without eating or drinking anything
in between readings?
Thanks
