I went to a baby shower for my BIL's GF yesterday....well fiance now as he
asked her to marry him at the shower...very cute.
Anyway...I kinda felt a little bad for them because this is their first baby so
they don't have really anything for her, they are financially not in the best
spot....and they didn't really get much of what they registered for. I think
the problem may have been that what the registered for seemed to me to be
really expensive...for example
$270 for a stroller car seat system
$180 for the high chair
$160 for a playpen
My youngest is 3 and I know things we got and looked at for him weren't that
pricey then....so I'm curious are things really that expensive now or did they
just go too high end?
I recommended to my future SIL that they maybe try to fill in some of their
needs at garage sales...since you can get some really great hardly used baby
stuff there. It was funny all the experienced moms (regardless of
socio-economic status) agreed whole heartedly...but mom-to-be seemed kind of
hesitent/cringed at the idea.
Course in her defense I guess I was hesitent too when I had my first
pregnancy...but I quickly learned.
