DC Ten, I just now read through your birth story, and I am so sorry that things
went the exact opposite of how you'd hoped. I know, though, that your daughter
makes it all worth it, but my heart goes out to you. My birth story was very
different in that I did end up delivering naturally, but it wasn't in any way a
good day in my life until the moment my son arrived despite all the support I
had, and it took a while just to process the details afterwards, so ... I guess
in my rambling I am trying to say that I sympathize and hope that you are able
to mostly move on now that a bit of time has passed, not that that will be
easy. Consider talking to someone (a counselor, a midwife you trust, etc.)
about this if you still find yourself getting upset months down the road, but I
can imagine it will take more time just to grieve what happened. I think we
often underestimate how these sorts of events affect us, though, so I hope you
have given yourself "permission" to feel sadness at what went wrong. (And I
hope you sent a nasty letter to the hospital -- or worse -- about the nurse
from hell.)
All the best to you,
Jennifer
